Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins is still keen to sign 20-year-old Gateshead striker Lee Novak despite being knocked back twice. The Iron have had two improved bids rejected by the Conference North outfit but Adkins has not given up hope.He told BBC Radio Humberside: "We will be speaking to Gateshead again. They've got their mind set on what they want for the player."We have to be careful that a rough-cut diamond is at the right price range."Scunthorpe have a recent track record of finding and developing young strikers and have cashed in on Andy Keogh (to Wolves), Billy Sharp (to Sheffield United) and Martin Paterson (to Burnley) and they are keen to give Kovak an opportunity to play League football."Other clubs, we are aware, have been alerted and we'll just have to see where the situation goes," Adkins added. "We can't allow the transfer fee to go into the range of where we could get a ready-made player who's scored the goals in League One, Two or even the Championship."
