If Only We Could Defend

Preston failed to keep a clean sheet again and fell to their fourth consecutive league defeat and their sixth of the season so far. A bumper crowd of over 18,000 filed into Deepdale on a day when prices were slashed for all fans. Norwich brought a strong following and looked the more likely to score hitting the woodwork in the first half. Wayne Brown started for the first time and was given the armband. Davidson was replaced by the returning Billy Jones who played at left back. No matter who plays at the back, Preston look at sixes and sevens. ON many occassions Norwich forwards were left free despite Brown barking out orders. On the positive side Barton looks good in midfield but needs to cut out the mistakes. Preston though failed to create much up front with Hayes back int eh starting line up assisting Parkin. The Norwich goal came in the second half. Preston failed to clear a cross which was nodded down to Holt. He was in acres of space in the box and fired home. Preston once again let a frontman roam in the box unattended. Some fans called for Fergie's head while others rallied as the manager sat watching from the tv gantry starting the first game of his three match touchline ban. He needs to start turning things around soon or the clamour for his head may multiply soon.
