Hume Defends Proctor's Transfer Request

Star striker Iain Hume has lept to his fellow front man's aid following criticism from supporters following an alleged transfer request.

With Graham Westley expecting to wield the axe at Deepdale over the summer it was reported on PNE's official website that a number of first team players have been made available for transfer with 16 others given free transfers.

Conversely, a couple of PNE stars have reportedly made themselves available for prospective buyers, namely Danny Mayor and Jamie Proctor, citing reasons of wanting to play at a higher level than League One.

The statement from Preston North End informed supporters that two home-grown first team stars had signalled their intentions that they were seeking pastures new.

It said: "Jamie Proctor and Danny Mayor have informed the Club that they would wish to move on to play at a higher level if the opportunity arises. At the time of writing there has been no interest from other clubs in either of these players and both remain contracted players."

Following the news a number of supporters have voiced their displeasure on the social networking site Twitter.

It was on such a medium that Iain Hume was quick to defend his fellow striker by saying: "He (Proctor) was brilliant at the start of the season and like a few of us got injured and never came back at his best! He's got loads of potential and showed that at the start of the year!" before adding the hashtag #dontthinkitsthefullstorytho.

Hume himself had been the subject of much speculation with regards to his future.

Andreas Arestidou, Aaron Brown, Michael McLellan, Daniel Devine, Scott Leather, David Gray, Alex Billington, Iain Turner, Ian Ashbee, Jamie Douglas, Seanan Clucas, George Miller, Dominic Comrie and Nicky Hunt have all been shown the door.

Meanwhile, Bailey Wright, Barry Nicholson, Brian McLean, Juvhel Tsoumou, Keammar Daley, Conor McLaughlin and darel Russell are those who have been transfer listed.
