Hume absent for North End

Preston boss Darren Ferguson will be without Iain Hume for the visit of Barnsley to Deepdale. The striker, who netted his third goal for North End in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Bristol City, is on loan from Barnsley and thus ineligible to face his parent club. Hume's absence could signal a return for youngster Adam Barton but Ferguson will check on the fitness of defender Wayne Brown, who has been suffering with chickenpox. The centre-back was still able to take his place among the substitutes at the weekend but Craig Morgan may be asked to continue alongside Sean St Ledger again. Ferguson said: "Obviously he isn't infected now but I'm just trying to put bodies on the bench - we could do with getting more bodies in."
