Hayes shocked by brace

Preston striker Paul Hayes admitted he surprised even himself after scoring twice with his head in the 3-0 friendly win over Blackburn. The summer signing from Scunthorpe marked his home debut with a clinical brace of headers before Chris Brown completed the scoring from the penalty spot. Hayes told the club's official website: "I rarely score goals with my head as that is my weak point but it has come off, though, and I am really pleased. "Since I have been here, David Unsworth and been telling me and having a go at me to get into the box more. The first one I popped out wide and I have had him in the back of my head saying get into the box "I got into the box and flicked it on as quickly as I could and then was able to do so again for the second goal from the free-kick."
