Grayson Suffers First Defeat

Preston's short unneaten run came to an end rather cruelly in the dying moments away at Brentford.

Just under 900 fans made the trip down to West London on Gentry Day to support Preston. Grayson was forced into changes with Hayhurst out injured.

Holmes supported the front two with what seemed like a straight three in midfield. Preston were not helped with injuries throughout the game as captain Welsh went off as well as Holmes who was substituted at half time.

Preston contained their hosts fairly well although Rudd was easily the busier of the two keepers throughout the match. King had Preston's best chance but could not convert.

Brentford were awarded a penalty int he dyingmoments of stoppage time which was converted. There was little complaint about the penalty but Preston know how much they need to improve if they are going to challenge next season by picking up points at tough away grounds.

The fixtures now come thick and fast with a home game next Saturday before two games in four days at Easter where Preston will look to confirm safety for next season.
