Grayson eyes glamour tie

Simon Grayson is relishing the possibility of drawing a Premier League big gun after his Preston side reached the FA Cup fourth round with a 2-0 victory over Norwich.

Striker Paul Gallagher scored twice in the final 20 minutes as the two-time winners continued their fine cup form this season.

Manager Grayson said he could breathe easily after securing a place in the draw.

"You just want to be in the draw," said the Preston manager. "The worst situation is when you get knocked out and the team who knocked you out get a real big draw.

"We're in there and see where it takes us. We might be home we might be away, we might get a big team, we might get a small team."

Grayson says the FA Cup is a bonus for his team, who stand third in League One and face Walsall in the home leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern final on Wednesday.

"We can enjoy the draw and look forward to the JPT on Wednesday," Grayson said.

"Deep down my priority is the league and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy as we're two games away (from Wembley), but we always pick a team to go out there and win the game. People who came into the team have been outstanding.

"It was a brilliant game for us. Norwich had a strong team out there so for us to keep a clean sheet against a very strong Norwich team and then to create opportunities to go and win the game is a fantastic achievement."

Gary Hooper and Bradley Johnson had the brightest openings for Norwich either side of the break, while Preston almost went in front after 62 minutes but Andy Little headed over from 12 yards.

It mattered little, though, as Gallagher slotted the ball under Canaries goalkeeper John Ruddy from 12 yards in the 71st minute after a Jack King knock-down.

And North End effectively sealed the win when Kyel Reid slipped in Gallagher who calmly finished past Ruddy from 10 yards in the 84th minute.

Norwich manager Neil Adams said: "We just didn't look creative. I don't know if we had a shot on target, which is a big concern for me. The game was a nothing game.

"The team we put out was a strong team and should be doing better. We were passing the ball but the cutting edge was lacking and we have to defend better than that.

"We conceded too easily. We didn't look threatening enough. The puzzling thing is that two games ago we were scoring six goals.

"You try and take positives from the game and there aren't any you can take. The players in there want to win games and we're bitterly disappointed with that because we know we've let ourselves down."
