North End started their season with a nil nil draw at home with Colchester despite having the better of possession and opportunities.

David Buchanan was the only change to the side which beat Huddersfield earlier in the week as he replaced Lee Holmes on the left wing.

Preston had much of the early possession but chances wererestricted. Monakana looked lively but was booked when he overran the ball and slid into the keeper. A scuffle developed with the winger booked.

Wroe had a free kick tipped over the bar but Preston could not open up their visitors for King and Beardsley to take advantage. The visitors we contentthe heist back andallow Preston the ball.

The second half saw Monakana and Laird hit long range shots which were well saved by the keeper but close range chances were a premium as Preston could just not findthrew right opening.

Mousinho went off injured to be replaced by Welsh whilst Amoo and Andy Proctor came on. They could not force a goal whilst Colchester flashed a shot just wide.

Westley will be happy with the solidity of his team but will be looking for a bit more in terms of going forward and finishing as the Whtes head to Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
