Phil Brown is set to offer Darren Carter a new contract but it is unclear whether the midfielder will accept reduced wages. Carter was placed on the transfer list by Darren Ferguson but has since had a settled run in the side by Phil Brown which has justified the offering of a new contract that expires in the Summer. It is believed that Brighton are also interested in taking the midfielder on a free transfer and at the end of the day it may well come down to whether Brighton can offer better personal terms as it is believed that the midfielder will be offered a significant drop in wages as Preston enter League One.
