From Zero To Hero

Preston continued their recent good away form with a victory courtesy of a Joe Garner double on Tuesday night but the match was not without controversy.

Garner is on a hot streak at the moment but also has a very short leash in respect of his temper as shown in pre-season against Fleetwood where he picked upa  red card.

In the 13th minute it appeared Garner again had got himself into trouble ina  tackle with a Vale player. Somehow all of the officials agreed that it was new boy Kilkenny who was the culprit and sent off the midfield man instead of Garner.

It was a case of mistaken identity and Preston have confirmed that they will appeal the red card with Kilkenny clearly not being involved in the incident. It is expected the red card will be transferred to Garner but Preston have also said they would appeal the red card in any event.

North End went on to win the game thanks to a first half Garner strike and a second half penalty from the same player. He was fortunate to be on the field given the wrongfully shown red card.

Preston moved up to third thanks to the win and play Brostil City on Saturday who have just sacked their manager, Sean O'Driscoll, ahead of the match. Preston should know by then over the appeal for the red card.
