Ferguson to make check on Mawene

The French centre-back sustained a groin injury in last weekend's 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest and subsequently missed the 2-2 draw against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.[LNB]Liam Chilvers deputised for Mawene against the Owls and may do so again but Ferguson has no other major concerns.[LNB]Midfielder Barry Nicholson is still recovering from a long-term injury and North End travel to the Midlands unbeaten in five league matches.[LNB]They have won only two of them, drawing three, but on-loan Manchester United United midfielder Matt James, 18, confidently declared: "We'll go to West Brom without fear and play our own game."[LNB][LNB]
