Ferguson curses luck

Preston boss Darren Ferguson admits his side must show greater composure after they bowed out of the Carling Cup with a 2-1 defeat at Wigan. North End had led through Keith Treacy's 23rd-minute goal but were beaten 2-1 as Jordi Gomez levelled after 87 minutes and Charles N'Zogbia settled it as extra-time loomed. Preston, struggling at the bottom end of the Championship, had chances to put the game beyond their Premier League hosts as Paul Coutts twice hit the post. Ferguson said: "I'm not looking for excuses but we just aren't getting any luck - Coutts hit the bar, post - it's game over if that went in. "Again we have lost a game late on, people will accuse us of not being fit enough, nonsense. "One thing I would say is the last 20 minutes we didn't keep it well enough, we invited pressure. We have got to have more composure."
