In the space of a few days Preston trimmed down their wage bill further.

Preston were in line with the fair play regulations of player wages being within 60% of their turnover but with the additions of Clarke and Humphreys it was always likely that at least a couple of players would leave to free up space ont he wage bill for emergencies.

Last week Chris Robertson had his contract cancelled with the club allowing him to almost immediately sign for Port Vale on a free transfer. The defender played well when initially signed by Westley but did not get a look in last season.

Andy Procter also had his contract cancelled after a fairly torrid time at Deepdale. He was made captain by Westley but did not perform to his best before being a fringe player last season. He is believed to be in talks with a League Two club.
