Graham Westley named an unchanged side from the team that picked up three points away at Scunthorpe which took everyone by surprise but meant that Candell-Sherriff continued at left back.
The first thirty minutes were pretty with neither side managing to break the other down before the game suddenly bust into life thanks to a couple of controversial moments.
There were two key moments int he first half which could have swung the game in Preston's favour. The first was when Beavon headed past the Tranmere keeper only for James Willaims to move his arm in order to prevent the ball from going into the net. Replays show a clear handball but the referee failed to spot the infringement despite having a good view.
The second moment came when Beavon was calttered int he box by a high boot. The replays make it look worst than it actually was int he ground but nevertheless it was clearly a foul ont he striker who was attempting to win the ball. The referee again was unmoved.
North End probed away with Beavon having a few long range efforst saved throughout the game but it was early in the second half that Preston made their possesion pay. Monakana had a cross cum shot tipped onto the bar by the impressive home keeper but the rebound fell to Huntington who headed into an empty net.
Preston were then in the scendency with the home team rarely threatening. The key moment in the game came when Jack King was played through one on one with the keeper but he missed his chance to seal the game although again there is an argument as to whether the keeper made a good save.
Tranmere then threw everything at it in the last twenty minutes having a goal rightly disallowed for offside although Wallacae of Tranmere seemed to disagree.
The hosts then got an undeserved equaliser with one of their only attacks of the game when Cassidy pounced on a loose through ball to slot past Simonsen. Again, Wallace who had earlier handled ont he line, decided to antagonise the Preston fans not by celebrating with his teammates but by purposefully goading the 2,000 visiting fans.
Anyway, enough said about Wallace. His immaturity doesn't deserve the air time it gets. Frankly, Tranmere looked anything but a side who will finish the season on top of the table although it could be that they were having a bad week or two.
Preston will be pleased that they picked up another away point and stay only nine points behind the leaders but will be disappointed that they did not close the gap further.
North End must now wait until Carlisle visit to return to league action with the FA Cup game against Yeovil this weekend thenext game Preston face.
