The Lancashire outfit lost in the Championship play-off semi-finals last season but they have made impressive progress under Irvine. The former Everton assistant boss has transformed the club's fortunes and Chaplow is confident the talented young players will ensure the Lilywhites continue to prosper. Chaplow, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, told the club's official website: "If you look throughout the squad we have got a good mix. "I've only just turned 24 and Sean St Ledger, Simon Whaley, Neil Mellor, Ross Wallace and Stephen Elliott are all in the same age bracket. "We have got quite a young squad. It's a squad that if we can keep together for two or three years will be a very good team."
