Carling Cup Draw Details

The draw for the first round takes place on Thursday at 10am. PNE will be seeded and will be ball no. 14. There will be 17 northern ties in the first round with the highest non seeded team being Sheffield Wednesday who finished 15th in League One last season. Premier League teams will join in the second round whilst those clubs involved in Europe will start from the third round. Although Birmingham's suffered relegation to the Championship, as Carling Cup Champions they will have a bye until the third round. This will mean a premininary round match, for the first time since 2002/03, between AFC Wimbledon and Crawley prior to the first round ties. The first round will take place in the opening week of the new season. As a seeded club PNE will face one of the following 17 clubs.
