Captain Blade: We Salute You!
Captain Blade, the Sheffield United mascot made a sit in half time protest in aid of Deepdale Duck as the Duck was escorted from Preston's last home game against Derby. The Duck was doing nothing untoward when a complaint came in from the Derby goalkeeper. The referee appeared to take no action but moments later the mascot was escorted from the ground. It is believed that the Duck may have been arrested but these reports are unconfirmed. In any event, mascot solidarity was present as Captain Blade delayed the second half of the Sheff Utd v Doncaster game by sitting in the centre circle as a demonstration at the conduct taken against Deepdale Duck. The second half eventually did get underway but it is clear that this may not be the end of the matter.
