Preston boss Phil Brown has paid tribute to the club's supporters as his side bid to avoid relegation from the npower Championship.

Resurgent North End moved to within four points of safety after beating Sheffield United 3-1 at home on Saturday. Brown hailed the role of the fans in creating a cauldron-like atmosphere and has urged them to recreate those levels of passion in the last four games of the season.

"The fans are fabulous," said Brown.

"They are starting to believe; you can see that from the noise level at Deepdale at the moment - it is ferocious.

"It is terrific to manage a football club when everyone is willing you to get over that winning line."
