Brown Holds Mellor Talks

Neil Mellor returned to training early ahead of the rest of the first team squad and had talks with boss Phil Brown over his future at the club. The striker has one year to run on his contract but has been in talks with Sheffield Wednesday over a permanent move after spending last season on loan in Yorkshire. Wednesday were unable to agree personal terms with the frontman although they were still hopeful of striking a deal. Mellor reported back early for pre-season training and Brown believes that Mellor now wishes to see out his contract at Deepdale. It would seem sensible for Mellor to earn the higher wages whilst still playing the same level of football as he would be at Sheffield. Brown believes Mellor can score goals in League One which will benefit Preston and ultimately put him in the shop window for when his contract expires.
