Scunthorpe United manager Ian Baraclough has said the club are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window. The Iron are currently 23rd in the Championship having won only two of their last 10 league games.

"We need freshening up as I think we're a little battle-weary," Baraclough told BBC Radio Humberside.

"The Championship is a hard division and when you're getting beat you ask how long can you keep it up for?"

Scunthorpe lost leading scorers Gary Hooper [Celtic] and Paul Hayes [Preston North End] last summer and are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the Championship.

I think one or two fresh faces to come in will be good Ian Baraclough Despite bringing several players in to the club, Baraclough believes further changes are necessary.

"I think one or two fresh faces to come in and liven things up will be good for the squad and that's what we're working hard to do."

Scunthorpe recently had a bid rejected for Bristol Rovers striker Will Hoskins although they are expected to table another bid.

Meanwhile, The Iron have injury concerns over Garry Thompson [groin], Rob Jones and Cliff Byrne [back] ahead of Saturday's league trip to in-form Leeds United.

Thompson and Byrne missed the FA Cup defeat to Everton while Jones suffered a recurrence of a back problem that forced him to miss the previous two games.
