Ashbee ready for the challenge

Preston midfielder Ian Ashbee says his side must quickly come to terms with relegation and hit the ground running in League One next season.

North End are reeling after Monday's 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff saw them fall back into the third tier of English football for the first time in more than a decade.

Boss Phil Brown admits there could be major changes after the club's first relegation in 18 years but has declared himself ready for the challenge.

Ashbee has followed suit, saying: "We have to hit the ground running next year. "We are only two or three days after the event and it is going to take a bit of time to sink in, so as much as you want to be positive you can't just forget why.

"It's a big enough football club to be in the Championship and higher and we have to try and get the club back where it belongs."
