North End are reeling after Monday's 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff saw them fall back into the third tier of English football for the first time in more than a decade.

Ashbee has followed suit, saying: "We have to hit the ground running next year. "We are only two or three days after the event and it is going to take a bit of time to sink in, so as much as you want to be positive you can't just forget why.
"It's a big enough football club to be in the Championship and higher and we have to try and get the club back where it belongs."
