Preston continued their pre-season with a final home game at Deepdale before the start of the season against neighbours Blackburn.

Grayson gave some of his squad a long run out in this match ahead of the final two warm up matches against Hartlepool and Rochdale although no indication was given as to his first eleven.

Davies started up front on his own spearheading the attack supported by a midfield three of Welsh, Wroe and Mousinho. Holmes and Humphrey were the widemen. Clarke was given a game at centre back alongside Wright whilst Keith Keane returned. Buchanan played at left back with Rudd in goal.

Preston started well with Davies showing why he will be more than a handful at this level. He headed home a Lee Holmes cross early on in the game to give North End the lead.

Blackburn came back into the game almost straight away with Rudd making a number of saves showing how important he will be this season. Rovers did eventually equaliser after the half hour mark when fromer loan player Kane had a shot parried which DJ Campbell converted.

The sides both had chances int he second half. It was good to see Hayhurst come ona nd get an outing whisly Jack King also came on at one point just sitting in front of the back four with a variety of formations tries out.

Grayson will be satisfied that there was an improvement in the result from Saturday's game at Fleetwood. We must also remember that Blackburn will be playing in the Championship this season.

Preston now move on to Hartlepool on Friday before the ladt official friendly away at Rochdale on Saturday.
