Former Preston player, Youl Mawene has been targeted by former boss Craig Brown as a first team member of Aberden where Brown now manages. Craig Brown first brought Mawene to Preston on a free transfer from Derby and the centre back proved to be one of the best bargains Preston had signed. Mawene left last season after failing to agree a new deal with Darren Ferguson. He played for a season in Greece but it was reported that he returned to England in March/April where he was training with North End as well as spending a week or so training with Aberdeen. Phil Brown has stated that he would have to look at the Mawene situation in line with other movements for players but he was under consideration. However, if Aberdeen make a move for Mawene then he could well sign for them on a free transfer.
