    Scolari stays silent on future

    07 Jun 2008 - 11:59:46

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has warned Chelsea that he will not consider his future until after Euro 2008.

The 59-year-old Brazilian has been hotly tipped to take over at Stamford Bridge as the successor to sacked former boss Avram Grant.

However, Scolari is refusing to contemplate his own personal future until after the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

The former Brazil coach has been at the helm of Portugal for five years and was widely expected to be named England manager before Steve McClaren's appointment in August 2006.

Speaking ahead of his side's opening fixture against Turkey on Saturday, he said: "I'm here as the Portugal squad's coach. I am going to work hard for the Portugal squad until the end of the Euros.

"It might be during the first phase, the second phase or the last phase, I don't know. If it depends on me, we will still be playing on June 29.

"What's going to happen to me after Euro 2008 - if I am going to stay or leave - concerns me and I am not going to talk about it now.

"If I decide to leave or stay, I am only going to make a public declaration at the end of Euro 2008.

"If something else happens during the Euros, I am not going to answer although things may go this way or that way but I am here to work for the Euros.

"I started working for Portugal in 2004, then I signed up for 2006. I might sign again, I might leave the squad, I don't know."
