Ferreira voices Ron backing

Chelsea full-back Paulo Ferreira has backed Portugal team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo to be a big hit at Euro 2008, despite continued speculation about his future with Manchester United.

Ronaldo is reported to be keen to join Real Madrid straight after the tournament, but Ferreira is confident that the winger will be on top form for his country.

He told reporters: "Cristiano Ronaldo is very strong mentally and he is concentrated on this tournament.

"I think he has the right people working on the other things.

"He is now with us and, as I know him, he wants to have a good competition.

"He's a winner and I hope he shows the same form as with Manchester United.

"He's now the best player in the world, in my opinion, so it's normal that everyone should look to him. But he won't have a poor tournament."
