Williamson completes Pompey move

Portsmouth have completed the signing of Watford defender Mike Williamson for a fee thought to be around £3million. The 25-year-old centre-half has agreed a four-year deal to become the latest new recruit at Fratton Park. Pompey boss Paul Hart told the club's official website: "He's a hungry young centre-half, a big lad who is uncompromising and does the basics well." The move caps a remarkable rise for Williamson, who was playing in League Two with Wycombe until joining the Hornets in January. He infuriated Watford boss Malky Mackay last week after handing in a transfer request and then claiming he was unfit to travel to Swansea for their game on Saturday.
