Webber - Pompey still positive

Portsmouth striker Danny Webber insists the squad remains in a buoyant mood despite their poor start to the season. Pompey have made the worst start in Premier League history losing their opening six games to sit rock bottom of the table. Paul Hart's men are aiming to avoid a seventh straight league defeat at home to Everton, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1 and Webber insists confidence is high in the camp that they can turn their fortunes around. "I have settled in really well and I have been enjoying it even though results have not gone our way," Webber told skysports.com. "The mood in the squad is buoyant even though results would suggest otherwise. "Everyone remains confident we can turn things around and we just have to eridicate mistakes we have made in other games. "I am 100 per cent confident we can get out of trouble looking at the people around the dressing room and the people we have still to come back. "It will be a tough challenge, but everyone needs challenges in their life. Webber, who joined Portsmouth earlier this month on a free transfer, is expecting a tough test against Everton and believes Portsmouth need to take a note out of the Toffees' book, with the visitors finding their best form in recent weeks after a poor start to the campaign. "They have hit a bit of form and it will be a tough game," added Webber. "They were in a similar situation to us a few weeks ago, but they have turned things round and we have to try and do the same. "It is a big game and we will not need much motivating as we want to get our first win in the league." Webber netted his first goal for his new club in the midweek Carling Cup win over Carlisle and the 27-year-old admits it was good to get off the mark for Pompey. "It was good to score my first goal for Portsmouth as it had been a while since my last goal," noted Webber. "Goals help your confidence and as a striker that is what I am paid to do and I hope there is more to come."
