Webber completes free switch to Portsmouth with something to prove
Portsmouth have completed the signing of former Manchester United striker Danny Webber on a free transfer.
Webber was released by Sheffield United at the end of last season and has been courted by a number of Championship sides.
Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Swansea City have all held talks with the 27-year-old free agent.
But Webber has secured a move to the Barclays Premier League after Paul Hart offered the forward a two-year-deal at Fratton Park.
The striker will help fill the void left by David Nugent - who is on loan at Burnley, as Pompey look to improve after their poor start to the season.
Portsmouth boss Paul Hart said: 'When I found out Danny was available I asked him to come down and train with us - and I was delighted withwhat I saw.
'He plays off the shoulder of defenders and gives us another attacking option.
'I wanted to sign him when I was at Nottingham Forest but he went to Watford. He's another one who's hungry with something to prove.'
