Portsmouth defender Joel Ward believes playing regular football this season has helped him become a better player. The 21-year-old made his Pompey debut against Hereford in last season`s Carling Cup and also made three Premier League appearances against Wigan, Aston Villa and Wolves. But it is this season in which he has established himself as a regular, appearing in 16 league and three Carling Cup matches so far. "I feel I've become a better player than the one who began the season, and that's down to playing regularly at this level," Ward told the club`s official website. "It has been a great experience for me and, as the season has gone on and other players have arrived, it's helped me even more. "I'm lucky enough to be versatile and have played in a number of positions already, which I'm happy to be able to do. I'm happy to play wherever the gaffer thinks I can do a job and I'm just delighted to have been in his plans."
