Utaka tipped to leave Pompey

Nigeria international John Utaka could leave Portsmouth and sign for Bordeaux in the summer, according to the French club.

The 27-year-old has scored five times in 54 appearances for Pompey following his £7million transfer from Rennes in the summer of 2007, but has spent most of this season on the substitute's bench.

It now seems that he will be returning to France, with Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud telling Aujourd'hui: "We have been offered John Utaka.

"I told coach Laurent Blanc, but I am not managing the sport aspect. I passed the information on, but it is up to the coach to make his decision.

"No decision has been made yet. I know Utaka wants to come back to France."

Meanwhile, Pompey's on-loan full-back Armand Traore has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury.

The Arsenal teenager, who has been sidelined for the last two months, had to be substituted in the closing stages of France Under-21s game against their England counterparts on Tuesday with an ankle injury.
