Spurs manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that he expected both deals to go through as his former club desperately attempt to improve their squad before the transfer window closes. 'Portsmouth are trying to sign Kevin Boateng,' Redknapp said. 'I don't know how far that has gone but it's a possibility. And they want to loan Jamie O'Hara which is a difficult one really because Jamie is a terrific young player. He's a good player for us but he needs to play games and at the moment he's not in the team. Tottenham close in on Stewart DowningJermain Defoe to rescue as Tottenham fans turn on Darren Bents profligacy'He really wants to play and gets some games so there is a possibility I might let him go to Portsmouth on loan until Christmas. They will be getting an excellent player and he'll do a great job for them. If something can be sorted out I will let him go for a few months.' Boateng arrived from German club Hertha Berlin for £5.4m in July 2007 but has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League. O'Hara, 23, and a former academy player at the club, is highly-regarded but has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs after playing a crucial role at the end of last season. Redknapp, whose table-topping side face Birmingham City at home on Saturday, confirmed that he had also spoken to Roman Pavyluchenko about his future, with the Russian international striker worried about his first-team appearances in a season that ends with a World Cup. 'He said he needs to play and finds it difficult not playing,' Redknapp said. 'He wants to be part of the Russian team. I had a chat with him this week and he's happy here. It's difficult for him and for Peter Crouch as I've started with Jermain (Defoe) and Robbie (Keane). They need to play but it's difficult to change the team. 'I don't want him (Pavyluchenko) to go. He's got great technique and this is his second year in the Premier League. He showed at Doncaster that he has a lot to offer. But if there is a big offer and the chairman wants to accept it then we will decide from there.' Redknapp said that there have been no offers, as yet, for the striker and added that Spurs are themselves interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder Sandro who would cost £16m from Internacional. However, Redknapp added he did not expect the deal to be concluded this month. 'It's a possibility down the road,' Redknapp said. 'I would need to speak to the chairman to see where he is at (with the deal).'
