Right back Glenn Johnson has made a reputation for himself as someone who scores the odd spectacular goal. It’s unlikely however he will ever score a goal better than this one.
Michael Turner in the Hull City defence could only half clear a Portsmouth cross from the left hand side. Johnson took the ball on his chest and sprinting at full speed, looped a sublime left foot volley over the Hull City goalkeeper from 35 yards.
As a result of Glenn Johnson’s growing reputation as both an outstanding defender and threat going forward he would go on to earn an £18 million move to Liverpool in 2010.
