Thomas wings in at Pompey

Portsmouth have signed versatile winger Jerome Thomas on a season-long loan deal from Charlton Athletic.

The 25-year-old started his career as a trainee with Arsenal, before heading to The Valley in a £100,000 deal in early 2004 and Thomas has gone on to score seven goals in 119 appearances for the Addicks,

Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie told the club's official website: "Jerome's a young player that Harry (Redknapp) has always liked, a quick, wide player who is a good addition to the squad.

"The idea is that he comes here and proves himself. If he plays to the ability we all know he has, then he has a great chance of staying here longer. So it's in his hands.

"Harry has been looking to add a quick, wide player, something that's important when you've got someone like Peter Crouch up front."
