The Opposition View: Chesterfield

Chris Snell answers some questions ahead of Saturday's match.

Pompey were the bookies favourites to win League Two at the start of the season but many see Chesterfield as the true favourites to be champions. What do you think?

Paul Cook knows what's required in League Two and has put together a balanced squad of proven talent. On the other hand I wonder if Pompey are still 'bottoming out', so to speak, have a manager and players who'll struggle to get their heads 'round football at this level to start with, and might take a season or two to realise large crowds don't guarantee success. Just ask Bradford. How do you assess your season so far?

Terrific. And even cynical old curmudgeons like me have to admit we've looked the part.Who have been Chesterfield's best performers so far this season?

Gary Roberts, a summer recruit from Swindon, has proven all the enthusiasm surrounding his arrival justified. The previously disappointing and subsequently transfer listed central defender Sam Hird has become the player we thought we'd originally signed, too. What are your team's biggest weaknesses that Pompey could exploit on Saturday?

Like I'll tell you. Seriously, though, we're not a physical side - but given we've not conceded yet scored from set pieces it's hardly an Achilles heel.Which players in the Portsmouth team do you believe Spireites will be most concerned about?

This isn't me being disrespectful, or trying to wind anyone up, but I genuinely haven't looked at your lot.Mansfield received a lot of criticism from Pompey fans last week for playing the long ball game. What type of match will we see at Fratton Park this weekend?

We prefer a pacey, passing, pressing game. I've compared it to five-a-side only with more blokes and a bigger pitch.Predict the outcome of the game.

Head says away win, heart will be happy remaining unbeaten, but thirty five years of this shit mean a home win would see me pulling a wry yet unsurprised grimace.
