Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes thinks in-form team-mate Matt Taylor deserves to win a call-up into the England squad.
The 25-year-old scored a spectacular 45-yard goal in Saturday's 2-0 win against Everton and has been an integral part in Pompey's fine start to the campaign.
England's next match is a friendly clash with Spain in February, and Hughes believes the former Luton Town star should be given the chance to shine at international level.
He said: "Matty deserves recognition from England for what he's doing.
"He's consistent, mentally strong and capable of doing something astonishing, like scoring that goal. He can score a fantastic goal like that out of absolutely nothing. It really was incredible."
Nigerian striker Kanu added: "Matt's goal was unbelievable. We know he can hit the ball well, but nobody believed he could score like that.
"It's wonderful, I think it's the best goal of the season so far."
