Sven staying with Mexico
Sven Goran Eriksson insists he intends on staying with Mexico after being strongly linked with a return to England with Portsmouth.[LNB] The experienced Swede left the Premier League in 2008 when he was sacked by Manchester City.[LNB]The former England coach is now with Mexico and despite interest from Pompey, he insists he will not quit Mexico with the 2010 World Cup firmly on his mind.[LNB]"I always said I have contract until 2010, after the World Cup. In football, you never know what will happen but I have a contract," he said ahead of Mexico's World Cup qualifier against USA on Wednesday. [LNB]"I want to win tomorrow. I have always said that Mexico will be in South Africa.[LNB]"It's very important to start winning but I don't think that my future depends on getting a good result tomorrow, life will go on. [LNB]"If we lose, we will have nine more games to qualify to the World Cup. But I repeat: I'm not thinking about a defeat."[LNB]FlatteredEriksson has been mentioned with both the Pompey and Chelsea jobs - which both became available on Monday.[LNB]And the Swede admits it is not a bad thing to have his name still mentioned when jobs became available.[LNB]"No, it's no distraction at all," Eriksson said "Myself and the team are only focused on what's going to happen tomorrow.[LNB]"But it's not bad to be linked with such good jobs. It's worse that they would never mention my name. So that's okay."[LNB]Eriksson was quick to dismiss the link with Chelsea.[LNB]"The only thing I can tell you is that if Chelsea wants me, I think the owner [Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich] will call me," Eriksson said. [LNB]"I know him very well. He has my number. I speak to him not regularly, but I know him personally. And I promise you he has not called me."[LNB]
