Storrie wary of further sales

Portsmouth chairman Peter Storrie has intimated that further big-name players could leave the club if a new owner is not found. Key duo Jermain Defoe and Lassana Diarra were both sold in the winter transfer window as the South Coast side succumbed to temping offers from Tottenham and Real Madrid respectively. Sacha Gaydamak remains keen to part company with his ownership of Pompey, and Storrie admits that a sale could decide the futures of the likes of Glen Johnson, Niko Kranjcar and Peter Crouch. He told The News: "I would like to keep all our good players but obviously a lot depends on the ownership issue. "Hopefully, we can bring a new owner in who can also put finance in because there is finance required for the club going forward. Transfers "At this moment in time, what happens in the transfer market depends entirely on the position regarding the ownership of the club. "Sacha has made it very clear that although he has done some fantastic things in the past, he cannot put any more finance in so it will wholly depend on what happens on that front. "At the moment various discussions are continuing on that and I am hopeful something will happen sooner rather than later." Meanwhile, Storrie is sure that midfielder Angelos Basinas has a future at Fratton Park, despite making just three appearances for the club since joining from AEK Athens earlier this year. He said: "I think with Basinas it's a different sort of situation (than Theofanis Gekas). I think he is a good player and I'm sure he is going to feature now and in the future. Basinas "Along with the two Greek boys, Pele also came in but has been injured virtually the whole time and not been fit. "What Paul (Hart) and Brian (Kidd) have said is they don't really know them, they don't know enough about them. "They have only seen them in training and, therefore, they have gone with players they know and feel can get us out of the mess we were in much more successfully. "I don't get involved in the team picking at all."
