Storrie backs Al Fahim

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie says he has faith in Sulaiman Al Fahim's financial plans for the club. The new owner eventually completed his protracted takeover of the club at the end of August and insisted at the weekend that a £50million investment should be concluded in the coming days. Storrie has pledged his future to the club and he believes Al Fahim will be as good as his word and secure the funding for Pompey. Storrie told The News: "I'm going to stay. "I'm his (Al Fahim) chief executive so I run the business on a day-to-day basis. "But I report to a board of which he is chairman - that's the same as any running business. "He hasn't been able to be hands on because he has been concentrating on finance. "Putting finance together has been his main concern. "Now he has done that he is going back to Dubai for one or two things. "Then, I'm sure, he'll be spending more time here and meeting with fans." Al Fahim met with fans on Friday and assured them there was no chance of their club being plunged into administration. While some fans have expressed doubt over whether he has the £50m in place to push Pompey forward, Storrie said he had seen evidence that money is in place. Storrie added: "It's all about finance. We need the finance to stabilise the cash flow, which Sulaiman says he can do. "He's said that publicly to the fans and has shown evidence of that to the board, so we have to believe it."
