Spurs complete Kranjcar capture

Tottenham have confirmed that they have sealed a deal for Portsmouth playmaker Niko Kranjcar. The Croatia international was at White Hart Lane on Tuesday to undergo a medical, before heading off to join up with his national side. With the tests revealing no problems, Spurs have pushed through a deal before the transfer window slammed shut. Kranjcar joined Portsmouth in the summer of 2006 and made over 100 appearances for the south coast club. He was, however, due to be out of contract at Fratton Park next summer and had admitted that he had no intention of prolonging his association with Pompey. With that in mind, Paul Hart has decided to cash in on the 25-year-old while he can still demand a fee. Kranjcar will now be expected to step into the void at Tottenham created by an injury to his countryman Luka Modric. The talented midfielder suffered a broken leg against Birmingham on Saturday and Harry Redknapp has wasted no time in brining in cover. "We are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Portsmouth for the transfer of Niko Kranjcar to the club, following the player successfully completing a medical examination and agreeing personal terms," read a statement on Tottenham's official website.
