Sol postpones quit thoughts
11 Apr 2009 - 13:54:39
Veteran Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell still believes he has three years left before he ends his playing career.
The 34-year-old former Arsenal and Tottenham star insists he would then consider going into management, such is his love-affair with the game.
Campbell told The Times: "Football's inside me. Yes, you might get peed off about certain things but, if it's inside you, if you live and breathe it and you love the challenge and want to see where you can go, you can't do nothing about it.
"I want to play for three more years. I'd definitely look at it after that, probably give myself a break, go away and start a family, but I think eventually I'd like to come back and see what I can do.
"You can't just rush into things. Once you get in there, you could be in management for 20 years, so take your time, learn the ropes and keep your eye in.
"The main thing is that football never changes. Little details might change and attitudes might change, but football never changes.
"It's still the game I was playing when I was a kid. It's still inside me."
