Smith seals Pompey switch

Reading`s summer-long pursuit of Watford forward Tommy Smith has finally been concluded after he joined Premier League side Portsmouth.[LNB]Former Watford manager Brendan Rodgers had been desperate to bring Smith to the Madejski Stadium and had agreed a fee with the Hornets for the forward after weeks of negotiations.[LNB]Smith had agreed personal terms with the Royals and was on his way to sign a contract on Tuesday when Pompey stepped in and the 29-year-old has now signed a four-year contract at Fratton Park for an undisclosed fee.[LNB]Smith told Portsmouth`s official website: "I spoke to Paul Hart and it sounded brilliant. Everything down here is certainly what I was looking for and I'm sure I made the right decision.[LNB]"When I've played at Portsmouth the atmosphere's been electric and it'll be nice to play on the right side of them this time, so I'm looking forward to it."
