Smith backing for Hart

Portsmouth forward Tommy Smith has insisted the players are '100 per cent' behind manager Paul Hart. Pompey's disastrous start to the season continued with a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton on Saturday, meaning they have now lost their opening seven Premier League fixtures. The miserable run has heaped pressure on Hart, even though new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim and chief executive Peter Storrie have given their backing to the boss. Hart has stressed that he will not walk away from the job and Smith also believes he is the man to turn the club's fortunes around. "The players have no control over what is going on in the boardroom and we don't really talk about it because it can affect your football if you delve into that stuff too much," Smith said in The Sun. "It's obvious we can't allow ourselves to get too far adrift at the bottom and we need to get our season up and running against Wolves next week. "But we're all 100 per cent behind the manager. "Paul Hart is an honest guy, he's good to work for and he has our total respect."
