Despite previous reports that Ricardo Rocha had agreed a new deal to sign for Portsmouth, it is now being reported by the official site that a deal couldn't be finalised for the Portuguese centre back.
Guy Whittingham has told the club that talks had been ongoing for months and although Ricardo still holds affection for the club, a satisfactory deal couldn't be struck.
It means the Pompey manager will still require another centre back going into the new campaign. He could do worse than give Sam Sodje another chance. He improved during last season and it's be great to see him put Dave Kitson in his pocket again!
As for Rocha, it's time to thank him for his significant contribution to the club, wish him all the best for the future and move on.
