Harry Redknapp has revealed that Thiago Motta is training with Portsmouth, but is not sure whether he will be able to complete the signing of the Brazil midfielder.
Motta, 25, has impressed the Pompey boss as he looks to battle back from knee ligament surgery which ended his last season with current club Atletico Madrid in March.
But Redknapp is unsure whether the former Barcelona midfielder will agree to a short-term loan switch to Fratton Park.
"He's been training with us and I liked him," he admitted.
"I think (chief executive) Peter Storrie has made him an offer of a short-term contract but I don't know where he is at with that.
"He has had a bad knee but if that's all right he's a good player.
"If you ask me, though, I do get the feeling it is not going to happen.
"But I saw him play against Chelsea two or three years ago for Barcelona and he was fantastic that night in the middle of the park."
Meanwhile, Redknapp has admitted that he will only make further moves in the transfer market ahead of Monday's deadline if he can make space with the sales of some fringe members of his squad.
