Redknapp still in the dark
03 Jan 2007 - 08:05:37
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is desperate to bolster his depleted squad, but admits he still doesn't know whether cash will be made available to him during the transfer window.
Pompey lost Noe Pamarot to a leg muscle injury during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Monday, but despite being short of numbers in both defence and attack, Redknapp is still waiting to hear from owner Alexandre Gaydamak is funds will be made available.
"I haven't a clue if I'm going to be bringing in a player or not," he said.
"I keep looking, but I don't know whether I'll be able to bring anyone in. I've not got a clue about what money is available.
"Despite what might be said in the newspapers I haven't had anything to do with transfer dealing for about 15 years. Peter Storrie (Pompey's chief executive) does it all here.
"I ask him to ask the owner what is possible and hopefully we can get one or two in because losing Pamarot leaves us a bit short."
