    Redknapp happy with options

    10 Jul 2008 - 13:07:59

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has revealed he is happy with his attacking options ahead of the unveiling of new £10million signing Peter Crouch.

The England striker is set to be officially confirmed as a Pompey player before the end of the week after deciding to end his three-year stay with Liverpool due to a lack of starting opportunities.

Crouch will link-up with fellow England striker Jermain Defoe, plus Kanu, David Nugent and on-loan forward Ben Sahar at Fratton Park ahead of the new season.

"I'm not looking for any more strikers now, that will be it for that position," Redknapp told the Portsmouth News.

"If Crouchie comes I'll be very happy with what I've got. I've always said I wanted four or five strikers to choose from. Last year we didn't have that.

"Crouchie is obviously a quality player, he will be a fantastic signing for us. He's a good lad as well, him and Jermain together can be exciting."

Meanwhile, Redknapp has challenged unsettled striker Nugent to prove he deserves a prominent role in the squad after struggling to adapt to life in the top-flight following his £7million arrival last summer.

"I don't want any of them to leave now. I would like to keep Nuge if possible, you need all of them this season," he continued.

"If you're competing in the UEFA Cup as well there are a lot of matches, we need strength in depth and these players give that.

"It's up to Nuge now, I'm looking for him to push on. If he gets the opportunity it's up to him to take it. He needs to come good and show what he can do."
