Redknapp eyes top targets

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is determined to bring some top-quality new players to Fratton Park this summer, but accepts that he faces competition for most of his targets.
Manchester City centre-back Sylvain Distin is one player in Redknapp's sights, while, with Pompey in the market for a new striker, Bolton's Nicolas Anelka, Spurs star Jermain Defoe and Liverpool's Craig Bellamy have all been linked.
Redknapp told The News: "I like Distin. He's a good player, a great free transfer for someone, but I think he's got plenty of offers.
"He's big, strong and quick, one of the best free transfers in the country this summer. He's a top player.
"I tried to get Anelka last year. He's a good player, a top player, but I don't see that happening.
"He'll probably be more expensive than last year. He's scored his goals and has done quite well.
"Jermain Defoe would be lovely, but I don't think so. As for Craig Bellamy, there's no chance. I'll just keep looking around and see what comes up."
