Premier League fine crisis club Portsmouth £1m for breaking rules

Portsmouth have been dealt a further financial blow after the Premier League dished out a £1million fine for a 'series of rule breaches'.[LNB]Pompey are facing relegation to the Championship after going into administration with debts of around £80m.[LNB]The fine is understood to relate to the club's late payment of wages to playing staff and late payment of outstanding transfer cash. [LNB] Double penalty: Pompey have been fined and cannot afford Dindane[LNB]Earlier this season, the Premier League used £7m of TV money due to be given to Pompey to pay off outstanding transfer fees to other clubs. [LNB]Portsmouth entered administration in February and a nine-point deduction was confirmed last week, leaving the club facing almost certain relegation. [LNB]The fine will be paid to the League out of the club's share of television money. [LNB]A Premier League spokesman told The Sun: 'Portsmouth have been fined for a series of breaches of our rules and regulations during the course of this season.'[LNB]The man fronting a consortium interested in a takeover defended the main investor's decision to remain anonymous for the time being.[LNB]Property developer Rob Lloyd, who has not ruled out investing himself, said: 'People need to back off and let my client get into a position where we know what we're buying.'[LNB]Meanwhile, striker Aruna Dindane has played his last game for Avram Grant's side.[LNB]  The on-loan striker, left out against Hull at the weekend, has a clause in his contract and Pompey would need to pay Lens £4m if the Ivory Coast international plays one more game.[LNB]Dindane has scored seven goals in 20 games since arriving on the south coast last summer.[LNB]Grant said: 'The season is finished from the target point of view.
