Portsmouth to target Gus Poyet should Avram Grant move to West Ham
With Portsmouth relegated to the Championship, it is widely believed Grant will take over from Gianfranco Zola at West Ham in a bid to continue managing a Premier League side, and this speculation has led to Poyet's name being linked with Fratton Park. According to the Sun, Poyet is top of Portsmouth's list of candidates having impressed the board with his work at Brighton who finished the season mid-table in League One having survived an early relegation threat. Portsmouth face their final test of the season against Chelsea in the FA Cup final this weekend, and despite being underdogs, Hayden Mullins is adamant the club can use that to their advantage. Citing the fact that against all odds they managed to beat Tottenham for a place in the final, Mullins said: "There is no pressure on us - the pressure is on Chelsea. The longer we keep them silent the more the pressure mounts. "We know it's really tough but we can still get a result. It's been a difficult season but we've just tried to get on with things."
