Carson back for Pompey

Trevor Carson will return in goal for Portsmouth when they entertain Wycombe.

Carson missed Saturday's 1-0 win over Bury as he is on loan from the Shakers, but boss Guy Whittingham confirmed he will reclaim his place despite deputy Phil Smith keeping a clean sheet.

Danny East and Simon Ferry are close to returning from hamstring injuries but the match may come too soon, while David Connolly, Marcos Painter (both calf) and Tom Craddock (knee) are set to miss out again.

Striker John Marquis is available after extending his loan from Millwall.

Wycombe will check on Sam Wood ahead of their first-ever meeting with Portsmouth.

The former Brentford man missed Saturday's 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers through illness and in his absence Blackpool loanee Charles Dunne was recalled at left-back.

And while defender Leon Johnson will be missing against Pompey with his hip injury, strikers Steven Craig and Dean Morgan are edging closer to full fitness.

Craig has been missing for six weeks with a virus while Morgan has had a nerve problem in his thigh but the pair returned to light training last week and have an outside chance of making the bench against Guy Whittingham's men.
